Tinubu - "How best to honour Abiola"
Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has suggested ways the Federal Government can honour the late Chief Moshood Abiola.
He suggested the naming of a national monument in the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) after Abiola, his posthumous declaration as president and the setting aside of a day in his honour.
He contended that though the President’s decision to rename the University of Lagos (Unilag) after Abiola was welcome, it falls short of what is required.
Tinubu spoke in Lagos on Wednesday while receiving protesting students of the university. Numbering about 100, the students, who handed a protest letter to the former governor, said they were in his Freedom House, Victoria Island office to express their displeasure over the renaming of their school.

Maurice Tomlinson - "I tried not to be gay by getting married"
![]() |
| Maurice Tomlinson... says homosexuality is not a disease. |
MAURICE Tomlinson, who sought refuge in Canada after he received countless death threats following news of his marriage to another man earlier this year, says there is no cure for homosexuality as it is not a disease.
Tomlinson, who in earlier days struggled with his sexuality, said he, like Reverend Dennis Jernigan, was a part of a group designed to remove his homosexual feelings.
Jernigan has come out against homosexuality and claims he is completely cured after 22 years of leading a gay lifestyle and is now happily married with nine children. But Tomlinson is adamant that gays cannot be cured from their same sex urgings.
"There is a movement which alleges they can cure you of homosexual feelings, it involves a lot of prayer, meetings and counseling with the idea that you will be cured," he said,"For several months I had one such group meeting in my home, long and short of it, I realised that it was not working. I remained attracted to men and even ended up having sexual relations with two men in the group, one of whom is now clinically depressed and the other has left his family."

6-year old Kosisochukwu Akilo who was kidnapped from her home in Enugu has been rescued.
A source within the Akilo family revealed to Cruise Nigeria that she was found in Warri, Delta state yesterday.
The circumstances surrounding her release remain uncertain as it was earlier reported that the kidnappers were yet to contact the traumatized family.
“She was released today” (yesterday) the source said, “But she’s still in Warri. Tomorrow she’ll be home. But this is great news, and the entire family is pleased that this horrible dilemma is finally over.”
Kosisochukwu was abducted on Sunday morning May 13, 2012. It’s been almost three weeks since her kidnap and it must have been a terrible time for her family and friends.
She was kidnapped from her home in Enugu state and found in Warri, Delta state. The little angel must have gone through a tough period but thank God she’s been found.

Lagos State Government Reinstates All Sacked Doctors.
The Lagos State Government has reinstated all the medical doctors it sacked a few weeks ago, a statement from the government announced on Thursday afternoon.
The Governor Babatunde Fashola led State government had sacked the doctors after an ultimatum it gave them to return to work was ignored following a dispute over salaries.
The state government was pressured by several interest groups and the media to recall the 778 medical doctors with workers’ unions like the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Gas Workers (NUPENG) and some state medical associations joining forces in a solidarity strike to force government to reinstate the sacked medical officers.
Though details of the discussions between the state government and the leadership of the doctors’ association in the state was not available immediately, THEWILL however gathered from reliable sources that former Lagos State Governor and leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Bola Tinubu played a key role in the negotiations that subsequently led to the recall of the doctors.

Masquerade Rapes Undergraduate Nursing Mother: Shocking!

Tension mounts in Opi, Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State as masquerades took turn in the series of rape stories synonymous with the community. The alleged rape of a female student, Ngozika Ugwu, presented mixed feelings and reactions to what may have bedevilled the community in the recent past.
Rape stories in Opi, a community in the university town of Nsukka, have occupied major national dailies, hitting banner headlines, from the three quarters that make up the community, Idi, Ogbozalla and Ibeku.
In 2011, the story of the rape of women between 70 and 80 years spread like wild fire in the country, raising eyebrows on the motive for such inhuman and barbaric act by, especially, youths of the community. Some of them were fingered and allegedly arrested, interrogated by the police but could not be persecuted because of want of evidence.
Following this development, Ada Enugu Women Organisation led by Mrs. Kate Ezeofor stormed the community for a church service at St. Charles Catholic Church parish, Opi to cleanse the land and the old women that were defiled.
Few months later, Opi women took to the streets in protest of yet another rape at Ogbozalla–Opi. The protest attracted the quick intervention of the Chairman, Nsukka Local Government Council, Mr. Tony Ugwu who invited all the stakeholders in the community to discuss the ugly development and proffer solutions. Though it was later discovered that the protest had political undertone, the council boss brokered peace to the satisfaction of all.
